What kind of sketchbook are you sending?
We're sending out Moleskine Kraft-bound Cahier journals. The sketchbook measures 3 and a half by 5 and a half inches. It contains 64 pages. The last 8 pages are perforated and can be torn out of the sketchbook.
Is there a limit to what I can do to the sketchbook?
Nope! The only requirement is that the sketchbook must be the same size (3.5x5.5 inches) when it is closed. Feel free to cut into pages, glue crap to them, add to the pages and make fold outs, etc. Just make sure that when the book is closed, it measures 3.5x5.5.
Do I have to fill all 64 pages?
It would be sweet if you did, but you definately aren't required to. If you have excess pages, you might want to tear out the blank pages to help the flow when the viewer flips through it.
You can! When you send your completed sketchbook back to us, just include a self-addressed stamped package/envelope (make sure your sketchbook can fit in it!). After the show we will send your sketchbook back. Please keep in mind though that we can not guarantee a time frame in which we will be able to send it back to you, as we like to keep the sketchbooks on display in the gallery after the show ends for people who missed the show to see.
When are the sketchbooks due by?
The sketchbooks have to be postmarked to us by August 1st. Just stick it in an envelope, slap some postage on it, and stick that sucker in the mailbox heading to the address found in the box below.
Can you elaborate on the theme of "how to change the world"?
Take the theme however you wish. There is no right or wrong. If the world needed saving, how would you save it? What would save it?
I suck at drawing, should I still participate?
Uh, duh. Just because its a sketchbook doesn't mean it has to contain "sketches". It's there to hold your thoughts. Write in it. Glue things down and collage in it. Paint in it. Draw in it. Spray some perfume in it (preferably a nice smelling one.)
Do you have to be in the United States to participate? [UPDATED]
We just opened up the project to international participants! Please use the tab on the top right to switch to the "international application"! If you run into any trouble or get any errors signing up, please let Shaneknow and he will gladly help!
What happens when all the spots are filled up?
When the max of 500 people is hit, we will disable the signup form. Do not worry if you're cutting it close, we WILL NOT allow people to sign up once the limit has been hit.

We're sending out 500 sketchbooks. You fill them and send them back. Then we throw a show with all of the books lining tables around our gallery, free for everyone to flip through and view.
Everyone has ideas on how they would save the world. Whether its something as small as planting a tree or as grand as beating up every boss at the end of each level on the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game, it's your solution to the world. Show it in your sketchbooks.
You will receive your sketchbooks in 2-4 weeks
March 17, 2008
Signups are close to being filled up, which means we'll be sending out the sketchbooks soon. Expect to get them with in the next 2-4 weeks. Remember that you have until August to fill them up, which is over 4 months.
International Entries open!
February 25, 2008
We are now ready to roll on international applications! Use the tab on the top right to switch between the US and International sign up forms. Please let me know if you have any questions or trouble signing up!
Entry is limited to the first 500 people to sign up. Entry fee is $13, which covers the sketchbook, shipping the sketchbook to you, and inclusion into the gallery show. Use the form to the right to pay via PayPal. You DO NOT need a Paypal account to sign up.
If you want your book returned to you, you MUST include a self addressed STAMPED envelope when you send back your sketch book. This is the only way we can do it. Please make sure that the sketchbook fits inside of the envelope and that the postage covers the amount needed to ship your particular book. Please give up to 3 months to receive your book back.
The sketch book MUST be the same sized when closed (3.5 by 5.5 in). Books bigger or smaller than that will not be put in the show. When opened, they can be as big or as small as you want, but they must fold back into the same original size. This is so that we can create a consistant display across the gallery.
The theme is "how to change the world". There is no restriction or censorship on content.
By submitting this form, you give art house the right to use images of your sketch book for any promotional materials and on our websites. Newspapers and other media outlets (including online blogs) are allowed to use images of your sketchbook in promotional material promoting art house.
Your work is your work and you retain the rights to it. If your book is sold in the show, Art House will send you a check at the end of the show for 60% of the amount sold for. As stated above, we will return your sketchbook to you if not sold (or not for sale) if you include a self-addressed-stamped-envelope when you send the sketchbook to us.
We're sorry, but the sign-up phase of this project has completed. Please keep checking back for more updates as the project unfolds.
